Flower Power Vase”

Duration: fairly short (2-3 hrs)
Materials needed: 5 lbs. of White moist clay, HS05 hump/slump, TX09 texture mold,  XX10 Stamps, one yard of canvas, XL rolling pin, Sandbag (place one cup of play sand into handkerchief and tie to close), wooden fettling knife, small round sponge, medium glaze brush, squeeze bottle for slip.

The moist clay used in the projects featured is a moist low White low-fire (cone 06-04) clay, available from most ceramic/pottery suppliers. This clay body when fired to cone 04, can be painted with any glaze currently used on standard bisque ware.
Wedge clay. Roll out slab. Curve into H-S05 Slump. Pounce with sandbag. Trim excess from edge. Tap on Edge of mold to remove from mold.

Repeat  for second oval.
Score the edges of both sides and slip and press together. Scratch across lip. Then blade around edge to smooth.

Smooth further with a wooden tool then sponge lightly. Stand upright and press gently to make a flat bottom edge.  Stamp if desired.
Cut circle out of slab to make a bottom. Smooth edges. Score bottom & circle. Slip together. Press firmly.
Roll slab onto TX09  texture tool. Peel back and do a trial roll–up. Mark where to cut. Trim.

Score bottom & side edges.  Slip sides together. (Be sure oval base has become hard enough to hold it.)
Set neck on base as desired. And mark inside & outside.
Remove neck. Cut hole in base. Smooth. Score where marked and slip base & neck together.   
Make a clay snake for the handles. Flatten on one side & make a V shape on the other with a sponge.
Cut into 2 even pieces. Shape around finger. Score slip together. Score both the handles and the vase. Attach with Slip.
Dry Thoroughly. Fire slowly to a witness cone .04
Glaze as desired & fire accordingly
